Paris, TN – The November meeting of the Paris Board of Public Utilities, was primarily focused on general business. The board approved the minutes from the October regular meeting of the Board and reviewed monthly financial and statistical reports.
At the October meeting of the Board, the board approved a $75,000 loan to Paris Henry County Industrial Committee (PHCIC) from the BPU Revolving Loan Fund. Since the time of that meeting, the construction cost of the two boats has exceeded the $100,000 estimated total. The BPU Revolving Loan Fund guidelines allow BPU to loan up to 75% of an economic development project. The Board approved a recommendation by Wimberley that the Board modify the loan to be 75% of the project up to $86,250.
The final item of business was an update from Wimberley on the Broadband Business Plan.
“Upon getting our letter back from the State Comptroller, our team feels prepared to enter the decision-making phase of the Broadband Project,” said BPU General Manager, Terry Wimberley. “Currently, we are continuing to evaluate our options and will make our decision in the coming months with careful consideration to our customers.”
The December meeting of the Board will take place on Thursday, December 19.
