Paris, TN –Thursday, July 11, BPU General Manager, Terry Wimberley, was installed as the Tennessee Municipal Electric Power Association (TMEPA) President. TMEPA’s primary role is advocating to the Tennessee General Assembly and other state leaders on behalf of the state’s municipal electric utilities and the other services they provide such as broadband, water and wastewater service. Wimberley will serve a one-year term and will serve the following year as Past President.
“I’m excited for the upcoming year at TMEPA,” said Wimberley. “I look forward to supporting and working for the good of all our members as we provide valuable services in our respective communities. This role also gives me a voice and allows me to play a role at the state level in issues that might affect our utility or our customers.”
TMEPA lobbies on issues to protect utility ratepayers and their pocketbooks. TMEPA serves as a resource to its members in a wide variety of ways to help them better serve their ratepayers, which includes hosting meetings and conferences across the state and throughout the year to share best practices and enhance a utility’s ability to serve their community.
“We are excited for Terry to be the President of the TMEPA Board of Directors,” said Brian Solsbee, TMEPA Executive Director. “He has been an instrumental board member and has helped us implement our new strategic plan. He is the perfect fit at a time when we are broadening support to multi utility systems with lobbying support for water, wastewater, and broadband.”
Wimberley began his service to the TMEPA Board of Directors in 2017 where he served as Secretary-Treasurer until 2018. This past year Wimberley served as Vice President of TMEPA under President, Brian Taylor, from CDE LightBand, Clarksville.
